Abstract

The problem of poverty is still a serious problem that must be addressed by cities and regencies in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Based on the results of a survey from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as of March 2019, the number of poor people was 446,000 people or about 11.7 percent of the population of DIY. Studies on BUMDes have indeed been carried out by many previous researchers. The novelty in this research is to compare the roles of two BUMDes in an effort to reduce poverty. The two BUMDes are Panggung Lestari, Sewon, Bantul and Tridadi Makmur, Sleman. The results of this research conclude that both BUMDes contribute to efforts to reduce poverty levels. The pattern carried out is firstly by opening up employment opportunities, making residents as business partners, providing educational scholarships and also repairing uninhabitable houses.
