Abstract


Promotion is an indicator of teacher career development. There are 12 coaches IV / a in SMP Negeri 1 Moyudan who have not been promoted for 6 - 16 years. This condition shows that teacher career development has stagnated. The purpose of this study was to determine the career development of teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Moyudan, Sleman and the causes of teacher career development experienced obstacles after obtaining the rank of Trustees IV / a. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used were observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the career development of teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Moyudan Sleman has stagnated as evidenced by the fact that there have not been any teachers who have received the promotion of the IV / b supervisor. Causes of teacher career development have stagnated: 1) Difficulties in compiling scientific papers; 2) Writing habits are not yet entrenched among teachers; 3) Teacher enthusiasm and motivation to develop a career decreases after obtaining the rank of Trustees IV / a; and 4) The teacher feels in a comfort zone.
