EFEKTIVITAS PROGRAM NASIONAL PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT MANDIRI PEDESAAN DI DESA SENDANGSARI KECAMATAN PAJANGAN BANTUL

Abstract

Poverty still become an important problem in Indonesia and still no signs
indicate that this problem will be solved. To improve the effectiveness of
poverty reduction and job creation, the government launched the National
Program for Community Empowerment (PNPM Mandiri).
Through PNPM Mandiri, there was improvement the mechanism for
poverty alleviation involving society elements, start from planning,
implementation, until monitoring and evaluation. Through participatory
development process, critical awareness and community independence
especially poor society which can be developed so that they will be an subject
instead of an object in poverty reduction efforts.
This research was done based on qualitative descriptive methods which
aimed to clearly illustrates the empirical facts that occurred in the field and
elaborate into a statements in accordance with the phenomenon that occurs.
In addition, data collection techniques used in this study were observation
method, interview, and documentation.
The result showed that PNPM Mandiri in Sendangsari Village was done
effectively and well-implemented. Nevertheless, there were still found some
prolems including limitation of human resources, no progress in cooperation
with the private sector yet, and still not all poor people got the independent
direct assistance.
