Abstract

Literacy Program is a program to utilize the Literacy Program owned by participants of the program. Due to the presence of gender issue, this research was aimed to study: a) results of the Literacy Program using Gender perspective; b) implementation of the Literacy Program to grow entrepreneurial spirit to participants using gender perspective; c) obstacles in growing entrepreneurial spirit between men and women. This research used analysis of gender of Harvard and entrepreneur theory of Djuwari (2010). This research was done in Sragen district. This research was a descriptive quantitative research supported with qualitative data. Survey and interview techniques were applied to collect the data. Respondents were determined using Quota sampling. The unit of analysis in this research was participants of the Literacy Program. The analysis was done using simple statistics that are percentage and analysis of gender of Harvard. This research shows that men and women have same access to join the Literacy Program. Meanwhile men have higher access than women in terms of participation, controlling, and expediency aspects. The Literacy Program triggers different entrepreneurial spirit between men and women. Entrepreneurial spirit of men will be more dominant in traits of confidence, achievement oriented, creativity, and innovation oriented, while women will be more dominant in traits of instrument oriented and achievement oriented. Though, men have higher entrepreneurial spirit than women. Encouragement and environment are factors that obstruct in growing entrepreneurial spirit in men and women. Meanwhile, burden of domestic works embodied in women causes women having lower entrepreneurial spirit.
